I'm a wife, a mother, a daughter, and a creative soul.
I have always wanted to be an entrepreneur, but other ambitions got in the way.
First, I earned a bachelor's degree in communication arts from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas. I was destined to be a journalist. I worked for a newspaper for a few years before setting my sights on a sales career in Austin, Texas. I met my husband at said sales job in 2007 and we were married in 2009. At that time, I wanted to pursue teaching. So I left my sales job, dusted off my backpack, and obtained a master's degree in secondary education from Texas State University in 2011.
Left with a student loan, I went back to my old sales job. I paid off my debt (in 11 months!). But I felt unfulfilled.
And then -- the best thing happened. My husband and I were expecting! Our son, Liam, was born April 6, 2014, and he's been a game changer. There are no better highs and lows than those of being a parent!
So my son is two now and a basket of energy and independence. I felt it was the right time for me to make a move in my small business venture. And here we are at Stella Marie Studio.
This is something that is near and dear to my heart -- especially the name of this business. Stella was my maternal grandmother whom I never got to meet, and Gladys Marie is my paternal grandmother who passed away when I was very young. Although I never knew these two amazing women, they have still helped shape who I am today, and I hold their memories with much reverence.
